Laras is captain of the guard of Lord Akitrom.
He is also a knight of The Order Of The Silver Dragon.
The Order Of The Silver Dragon was founded some 1500 years earlier by a silver dragon, who saw a need for different people to stand together against the monster races. Those were chaotic days where monster races would more often than not attack and kill humans. The task of the order was to protect human society from monsters and it got help from elven and dwarven societies to do this. The Order is present in a lot of different human societies.
Through times with unfair or cruel rule, the order has always kept neutral up until the point where external threats was exposed. A "good" ruler will let the order do its duty, a bad will invite orcs to help him control his lands. It does not matter how he treats his subjects, in fact - in times of revolution or civil war this order makes a point in not taking side and thus is free to combat monster races who will more eagerly seek to destroy a human society when it is being torn up from inside, too.
The order has many different members, mostly fighters, rangers and paladins. But other classes such as clerics and wizards are also accepted. Even an occational rogue finds his way to the order. But almost without exception, the members are human, though the order still has great allies between the elves and the dwarves. The current leader is a paladin.
The order will not nessesary seek to kill each and every monster they come across. Partly because that they do not want to awaken the wraith of to many monster races and their desire to exterminate humans and partly because some problems are to small to use time on. Halforcs are a race they have learned to tolerate. The order is more occupied with armies or large groups of monsters than individual monsters. But they do hunt and kill individual monsters, if they attract to much attension.
Also, with time, the order has learned that playing the monsters against one another can be a very good idea and that means coorperation (or at least pretending) with them.
Good can be devided into mercifulness and opposing evil. The order is about killing monsters and mercifullness is not a must.
Laras is big by human standards. Though it is possible that his outfit makes him look bigger than he really is.
Across his outfit, he has numerous engravements, embroideries etc picturing a silver dragon on his outfit. The shield and the armor has dragon ormaments and the sword has a handle formed like a dragon. Every single piece of garment he wear pictures a silver dragon. On his ringfinger on his right hand is a ring, which is the seal of the Order.
He looks like a bright fellow, and is also rather handsome. When he smiles, his entire face lights up. Right now he looks quite serious. He has long, dark hair under his helmet but otherwise keeps his facial hair to a minimum, which means no beard and welltrimmed nose, ear and eyebrows. His body and suntanned face, as well as his gear are well cared for.
